  • Art on display - Station Street Cafe!

    By Craig Middleton

This week my artwork was displayed at Station Street Cafe - Nunawading.
Within hours of it being hung up on the wall, I had people coming up close and checking it out.
To my happiness it has since received lots of endearing and great feedback, with many enquiring the price!
This week I am a very happy man!

  • Rafa

Hi everyone I I just completed this picture of Rafa. Actually it was an experiment to see how pastel would look on a rough piece of wood. What do you think? XCraig

  • The journey

    By Jan Middleton

It's been an interesting journey watching my husband evolve into an artist.
As a chef learning his trade in London it was clear to see his desire to create art through food. He was a very passionate cook who had a superb skill with flavours.
The painting, drawing and writing stories also has incredible ingredients.
There's a real interest in the elements of people many of whom he finds fascinating. He's a big researcher and is always looking for that balance of truth and imagination to be intertwined so as to create a page turner. He works very hard as an artist and because he's produced many pieces now there is a bit of excitement around The Artful Dodger. Kind regards Jan Middleton

  • Book Research!

    By Craig Middleton

Recently I've been researching for my next book. In light of current religious conflicts I've been searching out stories which actually highlight human kindness instead of hate.
One such story involves a mosque in the centre of Paris. It was built in the 1920's as a gift to the French Algerians who fought in the 1st WW.
During the nazi occupation in the 1940's the leader of the mosque helped many people escape the Gestapo. Many of the them were Jews both adults and children. As I looked further I found that around 83% of French Jews survived the nazis. This being at a time when there was a program to exterminate all Jews even babies. Many of the people who participated in helping were themselves killed.
This isn't a well publicised aspect of the war.
The story of the mosque and those helped by ordinary people highlights that the vast majority of people are good and will help, contrary to what appears to be.
